People occasionally ask why I left Furality or why my perspective on it changed over time. Rather than answering that question in fragments, I wanted to write down my experience as I lived it.
This is not intended to speak for anyone else. It is simply my account of what I experienced, how I interpreted it, and why I ultimately chose a different path.
I Joined Because I Wanted to Build
I have always been motivated by creation.
Whether it's engineering, broadcasting, software development, lighting, automation, or VR worlds, I enjoy solving difficult problems and building experiences that people remember.
When I joined Furality, that was my goal. I wasn't looking for influence or titles. I simply wanted to contribute.
Over time, however, I began feeling like my ability to contribute was shrinking rather than growing.
Simple technical discussions often became long meetings where I struggled to communicate ideas that, from my perspective, could have been demonstrated in minutes. By the end of many of those conversations, decisions often felt predetermined regardless of what had been discussed.
Eventually I reached a point where I felt I was spending more time trying to justify why an idea should be heard than actually creating anything.
That became exhausting.
Feeling Like an Outsider
One of the more difficult parts wasn't disagreement itself.
I have no problem working with strong personalities or debating technical ideas.
The problem was feeling like I was walking into conversations where I had already been categorized before I even spoke.
I remember telling Alofoxx that I felt like simply mentioning Waterwolf or talking about something I had built immediately put Daltyn into a defensive mindset. Whether or not that was actually his intention, it was how those interactions consistently felt to me.
When I tried explaining my perspective, I often felt shut down before I could fully communicate it.
I don't expect everyone to agree with my ideas.
